Stop and Write
Skills Developed: Following directions Writing letters or words Gross motor Materials: Whiteboard and markers (or paper and pencils) for each student Instructions: - Call out on of the following activities for the children to do (or make up your own):
- Jumping
- Hoping
- Touch hands to opposite knees (Called Cross Crawls)
- Marching
- Stand on one foot
- Jumping jacks
- Play air guitar
- Have the students continue the activity until you call out a letter. Once you call out the letter, they stop and write it down on their board.
- Write it on the board so that the students can check to see if they are correct.
- Call out another activity and repeat as above.
Variations: - Use this activity to practice writing words.
- Review math facts by giving a math problem on the board and have the students write the answer down.
